Sizism is an under-recognized area of oppression. Overweight/Obese/Fat/Plus Size individuals face de-humanizing cultural ideologies, institutional and interpersonal discrimination, and internalized self hatred and doubt . Sizism can also compound oppression along other marginalized identities such as race, class, ability status, and sexual orientation. Its time we take education and allyship around sizism seriously in public discourse.
